about

A composition by Kazi Nazrul islam originally, the melody however has been re-arranged, inspired by an african groove and trance-like dance.

Its a song about the red soil of Bengal, where the raw energies of young lovers are felt when the drums roll in springtime. The flowers as ornaments on the tribal women and their mad dance to the the drums and flutes of the young tribal boys express the raw passion in the red soil of the pristine land.

lyrics

Ei rangmati pothe lo
(This red soil...this is my road)
madol baje o baje madol baje
(where the drums sounds are rolling and resounding)

Jodi bhalo lage taake tare dekhbo pothe baake
(When i like someone, I watch her from the bend of the road)
Tar chachor keshe poriye debo juumko jobar phool lo
(I go and adorn red hibiscus flowers on her hair)
Tar golar mala poosh mukhe re
(I take some flowers from the garland around her neck)
Porbo kaane dul
(And wear them as ear-rings)
Tar nacher taane ishaara te bolbo bhalobashi
(With her intoxicating dance attracting me, I feel like saying that I love her)

jodi bhalo lage taake tare dekhbo pother baake
(When i like someone, I watch her from the bend of the road)
Madoliyar taale taale ongo uthe dule lo
(With the sounds of the drums, My body starts moving in passion)

Ni ni sa ni ni sa ni ni sa ni ni sa
ni ni ni nin ni ni

Ei rangamati pother lo
(This red soil is my land, my earth)
madol baje baje bashi
(I hear the drums sounds and I hear the melodious flutes in the air)
